Introduction

Universidad de Buenos Aires (UBA) is the biggest university in Argentina and one of the biggest in Latin America. It was established in august 12, 1821, in the city of Buenos Aires. University admission is granted once Common Basic Cycle (CBC), a preparatory one-year course, is passed.

In 2006, UBA had 72 graduate studies with a total of 28.490 professors, and it is responsible for 30% of Argentina's scientific research. It is organized into 13 colleges, Common Basic Cycle, Buenos Aires National School, Carlos Pellegrini High School of Commerce, Ricardo Rojas Cultural Centre, EUDEBA, ten museums and five assistance centres.
